AN OPPORTUNITY FOR HILTONIANS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
It is a priority of the National Committee of the Old
Hiltonian Club to contribute as much money as possible for bursaries which
assist the sons of Old Boys to attend Hilton.
Recently, the Old Hiltonian Club agreed to
loan the school farm the funds to purchase a beef herd, on the understanding
that the profits be directed to bursaries.
The results have been excellent.
In order to grow this enterprise further, the Club
is extending to Hiltonians the opportunity to contribute in an innovative and
fun way.
You are invited to loan the Club an amount to buy a
weaner and to cover its expenses over it's time at Hilton (around 18 months).
At the end of the period, the animal will be sold,
and your loan plus 6% interest will be repaid by the Old Hiltonian Club.
Participants will “own” a particular animal
and have the chance to name it; its particulars, together with a photograph,
will appear on the project website.
There will be a competition to see whose animal
gains the most weight and the winner will be awarded the “Market Traders
Trophy”.
This novel project will allow Hiltonians to
be part of an excellent cause, while providing them with a fun opportunity to
farm and to compete with their desk bound friends.
There will be an overall leader board showing the total amount of funds raised
per person, house, province and country since inception.
